The new year has me reflecting on time.
Time as a resource.
How do you use your time?
Mealtime.
Bath time.
Time out.
Time’s up.
Telling time.
Time to go.
Time is finite, but irretrievable.
Time is neutral.
Time is predictable.
But all too often time, or the lack thereof, feels like an enemy to me.
So this year, I am working on time as a resource.
Here are my goals:
- I will spend time as I would allocate any other valuable resource such as money or Starbucks gift cards.
- I will be prepared when I need to pass time, like when I am waiting. Perfect use for those books stored up on Kindle for iPad.
- I will allow a reasonable allocation for time wasting, but I will make sure it is fun or at least restful. Right now Candy Crush is fun, but I am close to the edge of obsession.
- I will use my time wisely by making active, reflective decisions.
- I will invest time in things that matter: relationships, work, and even sleep as priorities.
- And I will be purposeful in making time for people in my life as a valuable expression of love.
What are your goals for this year?
