Yesterday, Steve Jobs was back on stage announcing improvements to Apple’s iPhone/iPod/iPad operating system.
You can read about it all over the internet. I just wanted to quickly point out the cool number 4 slide he used at the start of his presentation. So many people would choose something more bland, more predictable.
Put some part of your image outside the frame, and you arouse interest, In photography, few were better at this than Robert Frank.
In literature: Hemingway.
Allow your readers/viewers/listeners to connect some dots, extend the mental frameline, and make your story greater in their own mind as they – in some small way – become part of the story.
While I’m here, is it just me, or is Jobs growing ever closer in resemblance to Montgomery Burns?
Happy iFriday.
(Oh, and for those of you that wondered … yes, I do, and it’s pretty spectacular. I’m just concerned I may never get it away from my son.)
