Yesterday our hometown of Gifford, Illinois, was struck by a devastating tornado. It appears that over 200 houses were damaged and 20 more were destroyed completely It may be days before we know the full extent of the damage. We know it was devastating.
In the days ahead, you will see the community stand strong together, and the neighboring communities come together to lend help and support. It’s how things are done there.
Please join with us in thought and prayer for the people of Gifford and the many other communities affected by severe weather this weekend. We are thankful our immediate family members are safe, but many we know and love have suffered great loss this weekend.
If you would like to help financially, a fund has been set up to help the victims of this storm. Send donations to The Gifford State Bank, P.O. Box 400, Gifford, IL 61847. Make checks to The Gifford State Bank Tornado Relief Fund. Or you can visit http://www.uwayhelps.org/gifford to help through United Way of Champaign County.
Thank you.
