Whooooooooooosh. The first quarter of 2015 has already come… and nearly gone… so I’d like to know something.
How are you feeling? Content? Engaged? Happy?
I’m going to talk briefly about positive psychology – WAIT! DON’T GO! I BRING NEITHER RAINBOWS NOR UNICORNS!
Before you think I’ve tripped over one of my Birkenstocks while looking for my patchouli oil, hear me out. Positive Psychology is an actual thing… like real Doctors and Scientists peer review studies and stuff.
Evidently, there are five quantifiable factors that contribute to your well-being. Each can be measured independently of one another:
- Positive Emotion
- Engagement
- Meaning
- Positive Relationships
- Accomplishment
So says Martin Seligman in a fascinating 2012 book I’ve started reading titled Flourish – A Visionary New Understanding of Happiness and Well-being.
Don’t believe me? Fine. I haven’t finished the book yet, so maybe I don’t believe me yet either.
But try the experiment I tried Monday that Seligman suggests and see if it doesn’t make you feel… well… better.
Go on. Do this today. If you like, continue the discussion and let us know how you feel on our Facebook page.
If you’re not going to do this today, mind if I ask why not?
