I’ve lived three places in my life.
The farmlands surrounding Champaign-Urbana will always be home.
Columbia’s been wonderful to us. It’s where our company took flight and our children were born.
But, if I had to retire to one place – regardless of age (hopefully sooner than later), I’d choose southern Illinois.
Its pace of play and warm-hearted, generous-neighbor nature suit me to a ‘T.’
I lived there from 1992-2003. I met my wife there. I always enjoy visiting. I get back several times a year as we have a client and many friends (and one beleaguered college basketball team) there.
Today, southern Illinois is in pain. They need our prayers and help. I’m asking.
In the dark of night, a suspected EF-4 tornado unleashed hell in Saline County – where I’ve played, worked, eaten and been lazy with friends. 170+ MPH winds left six confirmed dead, countless others injured and uprooted famillies and businesses.
I’m sad today. So I pray, and I turn to you to ask for your help.
The Southern Illinois Community Foundation is set up to accept monetary donations for the Saline County Area.

Sorry to ask you for anything, but people I care about are in pain, and I feel very small and helpless today. This is the one thing I know I can do to help. This keyboard’s my hammer.
Is there something you can do? Every little bit helps – prayers and shares included. My old neighbors would surely be grateful. They’re awfully good people. I know you’d like them, too.

This was devastating to read about. I’m sending prayers and positive thoughts to you and your friends.
