For 12 glorious days, my sweet husband and I toured the western states.
From Utah’s Great Salt Lake to the Grand Tetons of Wyoming to the Great Plains of Montana. From the Old Faithful to the stone faces of our forefathers at Mount Rushmore to the +12,000′ peak in Rocky Mountain National Park,
2600 rental-car miles, 12 days, two wide-eyed kids, still making it work after three decades.
We returned refreshed and ready to face the empty nest and the work we love, better for having left it behind for awhile.
I encourage you to retreat, refresh, shake things up a little bit.
New perspective. New creativity. New lease on life. Take 12 days or 12 minutes. Take 2600 miles or a walk around the block. No Facebook, no twitter, no LinkedIn, no Candy Crush (okay maybe a little Candy Crush – keepin’ it real, people) Look at something beautiful in the scenery or the faces at your table.
Give your self a break and then get back to work. Only better.
