Still reading Lee Cockerell’s Creating Magic about leadership strategies he helped to create at Disney.
Last night, I read the million-dollar question for any business owner. Ask your employees today:
“Is anything standing in the way of great performance?”
Cockerell writes:
“…whether it’s sluggish procedures, unclear operating guidelines, obsolete equipment, inadequate training, etc. Then ask if there is something you can do to make their jobs easier. Listen intently, write down what they tell you, and follow up quickly by fixing the problem.”
Remember, as an owner, manager, or leader of your company, your most important customers are your employees. Schedule time to ask this question personally at least once a month.
And make sure to follow through.
For them to do their jobs at the highest level, you must first do yours at the highest level.
They need you to give a great performance.
