It’s not a J.
I mean, it is a J, but – in emails – if you see the capital letter J off by itself in or especially at the end.
It’s this: 🙂
It’s someone smiling at what you said (you clever dog) or what they said to you with a punctuation smiley-face thingie.
Some email programs try to fix that into the letter J.
