On behalf of Tim, Dee, Ryan and myself, I would be remiss if I didn’t take a few moments this morning to thank our readers for participating in our Name Tim’s Thing Contest.
You have exceeded our expectations.
And that is saying something because we hold our readers in highest esteem. Truly. We type stuff that we are not even sure Mom wants to read and then you read and you tell us it means something. We are humbled.
We are learning about our readers in this little contest!
You are creative.
You like to write.
You are funny.
You are thoughtful.
You are determined.
You are relentless.
You are kind.
You like bacon. I mean you really like bacon!
We are going to wrap up this contest to Name Tim’s Thing on Saturday, May 4, at noon. It’s our mom’s birthday. So get your entries in soon.
I’m here to tell you that the competition is tough. 154 entries and counting as of Friday afternoon. Each one merits consideration.
I am also here to tell you that Tim’s thing is working. It’s highly applicable. I’ve been in a few rooms already thanks to some lovely radio friends in Cedar Rapids and Columbus, and I have seen with my own eyes that serious business people are taking notes with great fervor and making plans to apply it to their own livelihood.
And that’s really something to see. I’m proud of my little brother. And I’m proud of our little company for staying true to our goals and values of freely sharing helpful information. And I’m proud that values-based owner-operated companies are engaging with us to help them.
And I am proud of our readers. You all make it fun to do what we do every day.
Thank you.
Winners of the contest will be announced on Thursday, May 9, which is our dad’s birthday. Maybe that’s a good name for Tim’s thing. “Our Dad’s Birthday.”
Or maybe not. Stay tuned and find out!

You should post some of the better ones that you are considering. It may spur on some creative twists to those ideas that get you to the name you want.
