“So, I got you something for your office last night,” says my wife at 5:30 this morning – holding our snuggly, seven-weeks-old-today Sarah in her arms.
I love her. And eBay. And this early Christmas present – 24″ x 36″ mint condition poster suitable for framing and hanging on the east wall.
I’m so thankful a girl that good-lookin’ would slum for a dreamer like me.
Thanks, Dee.
Let me ask you – what’s in your office? What’s sitting on a shelf or hanging on your wall? What surrounds or reminds you or gives you comfort or clarity? What helps you think different?

This is perfect. You are a lucky man indeed.

You are indeed a lucky man!

3.75) A Guinness poster

Love it! You’re a lucky guy for sure.
In my office, I treasure a small, white ceramic rabbit that sits close by, reminding me that life is good.

Pictures of my family sit just to the left of my computer screen, always in my line of sight.
And my Dwight Schrute bobble reminds me of beets and bears, which makes me smile 🙂
Stephanie Rosskopf - SOCKET says
Nothing is in my direct line of sight behind my computer – I’m easily distracted.
But to the left are some pics of my little buddy boy, Gabe.
To the right is a picture of my sisters and dad a small engagement picture of me riding piggyback on Chris – man, my hair was long three years ago.
And a pink-stripped, feather boa business card for my dream shop – http://www.nebrartchicks.com. It WILL happen one day…someday.

I have a big picture of a spunky looking, one-eyed shaggy dog.
Had a supply drive for the Humane Society a while back and put pics of animals on the donation boxes.
When it was over I just couldn’t part with him. Helps remind me of the good we’ve done and to keep it up.

A framed needlepoint my mother sewed, a framed picture collage of our girls, and a framed GE stock certificate with a brass tag that reads “You bring good things into my life” that my wife gave me on our first anniversary.
Lynn says
A photograph of my Grandma taken on her 100th birthday, reminding me to be in this for the long haul.

Would it be too geeky to say books? I’m surrounded by many of my favorite and inspiring books. I also have the coffee cup my oldest daughter made me and several paintings by daughter #2 as well as plenty of photos.
More along the lines of what you’ve mentioned, I have a printed-out “WWRD – What Would Roy Do” poster on the wall and my “Amazing Drinking Bird” science toy on top of my desk hutch.
But what most people would notice is my framed Don Quixote poster that used to be hung up in my classroom when I taught high school and could only dream of being so lucky as to be a Wizard of Ads partner ; )

Oh, and you surely do have a fabulous wife! What a great gift, Tim. You deserve it.

Dee is the bomb. Anyone who knows her knows that.
I’m surrounded by a great paint color, pictures of my family and friends, a painting we got in Jamaica on our honeymoon, a Maya Angelou plaque that was given to me by a dear friend and of course, piles of professional books and journals. I need distraction from the heavy work I’m called to do and I find it in my home office.

and isn’t this the same wonderful wife that completely re-painted and prepared said office for this fabulous print just last year?
she’s welcome to visit/revamp my office… but she’d have to ignore the randomly tossed papers (which I do) to be charmed by the framed photo of my dad leading my horse, the various photo’s of me at various competitions upon the back of my horse taped to my bulletin board… pics of Scott and his 2 boys on the ice after a hockey practice, most of my graduation certifs from Wizard Academy and a handwritten note of 6 writing tips that Roy had posted in a long past MMM.
and I know that somewhere under those papers is my pen… really, I’m sure that’s where it is….

Artwork from my daughter. Pics of my wife and old friends. A big dry erase board of made-up band names. And a dusty old bottle of Guiness some guy left in my office several years ago.

A photo of our wedding on Maui sits to my right.
A photo of one of America’s greatest screenwriters, Dalton Trumbo, hangs next to my computer screen.
A painting titled, “Thoughts Create,” by one of my favorite artists, hangs behind me to look at when I spin around and need to stare.
And when I need to center myself, my pup is usually wrapped around my chair. 🙂

I have a Montana license plate that reminds me of an unreal vacation there a few years back.

The walls around my desks (3 of them) have pics of my wifey and kidlets, because without them, I wouldn’t have a reason to be.
(Nit-picking notion from the Grammar Nazi: it’s “Think different-LY.”)
Alex George says
Love the poster, but I’m curious to know whether, as a writer, the lack of grammar (last time I looked, “think” was a verb) doesn’t irritate you just a little bit?
Above my desk I have an old Peanuts cartoon with Snoopy at his typewriter being bothered by Lucy. In the final frame he types “Bug Off!” Not that anyone in my family ever takes the hint.
Aric says
Nothing…absolutely nothing…perhaps that’s part of my problem.
Greg says
Two pictures: one of my kids, and one of WD Howells and Mark Twain sitting in chairs on the lawn.
Heidi says
Sad to say that I have nothing on my walls or surrounding my new office… yet! I do have some fabulous ideas to motivate me- and help me keep focused on the NOW.
Great gift from your wife. She’s super.
Lori - Bean Counter in Back says
Awe…my first true love. Love the Pic!
My walls talk to me all day. On the left side of me is a lovely portrait of a lady with a bad hair day from my daughter when she was in 2nd grade.(smile) Below that,a cut out from a website that tells me I’m ok to say “no” to some opportunities. In front of me is a painting from the best vacation ever Positano, Italy. Next to that is a Shaun Belding Blog clip on “How to get things done”…..my favorite #2 Just start doing it. Kid pics on top of the computer and to the right the conversation piece of the office….a “hunky calander given to me by the Shakes kids.(they thought I would pitch it). Then last but best is the word “grace” which is taped at the top of my computer screen to remind me to live like my Lord Jesus Christ.
