Hello in there.
I always try to find something on Monday mornings to get me started. How about you? Some small meditation to spark the slow fuse of the week’s inert start.
This week, my partner Roy Williams delivered it to my inbox shortly before I lumbered out of bed at 3:30 this morning.
On the surface, his Monday Morning Memo: “My Holiday Gift to You… For Real” may appear to be another Carpe Diem-bad-life-coach-rah-rah-go-get-em-with-exclamation-points-sloganeering-lots-of-hyphens thing.
Consider:
In the final moments of his life, my father scribbled a note for me to find. In barely legible pencil he scrawled, “All the little things in life add up to your life. If you don’t get it right then nothing else matters. It gets lonely in the promised land by yourself.”
But, Roy’s a freak. And as he does as well as anyone, the story takes an unexpected turn when it comes time for him to unwrap his gift to you and me:
I meet a lot of people who sigh deeply and say they’re looking for their passion, something to set their souls on fire and send beams of light shining out through their eyes.
But the people with light shining from their eyes know this:
What comes next should surprise you. What comes next elevates this week’s Memo above hyphens. What comes next might change the way you start your week.
Would you like to read what comes next? Once you arrive, I might suggest, too, that you click the little play button above the photo (that, you’ll notice, is oddly clickable, too) and listen to Roy read the memo.
A wise man once said “decisions are made by those who show up.”
Headlong,
