We talked yesterday about what Mike Harris called “a culture of ownership.”
What does that look like in practice?
How about this email I just got from my oldest, dearest client – Chapman Heating & Cooling?
Tim,
We gave away $13,800 (and 24 light sabers) this morning. And it felt great!!
Tim, we officially changed our profit sharing to quarterly bonuses. I know you were very much behind this push so I’m letting you know 🙂
We re-structured it so it is now centered around goals/revenue instead of revenue less all-the-things-owners-decide-to-do-with-their-money. It’s earned monthly and paid out quarterly at the breakfast meeting.
We retro activated it from April and each employee got a $600 check today.
Everyone seemed very excited w/ the new plan.
Ellis & Josh won Month 2 of Shareworthy Service. They custom cut some ceiling tiles and installed them for a customer. Customer really appreciated it. $250/each goes toward their tool allowance. And Eric won $100 for the last week of the month 2.
We announced month 3- Take 5’s. Daily drawings. $20 cold hard cash.
FUN MORNING!!
When your employees win, you win. When you win, your employees win. If you share in the struggle, be sure to share in the success as well.
As my partner Roy once told me:
“You cannot improve what you do not measure and reward.”
My clients at Chapman Heating & Cooling are measuring and rewarding growth and delightful customer service.
And it’s working like crazy. Everybody’s a part of it. Everybody owns it.
What does your company measure and reward?
Something to think about this weekend … Happy Friday!
