Imagine a magic table where ten people sit – each with $10,000.
Each walks away with all $100,000.
That’s the metaphor my mentor, Roy Williams, used to describe a mastermind group to me.
You each bring a great, tested idea – that’s your ten grand – but you each walk away with ten great, tested ideas.
I just wrapped up two such days with (more than) ten such people.
Make every effort to find – or start – a group like this.
It’s not a networking or leads group. That’s a different thing.
It’s a group of similarly-minded business people willing to share their best stuff to receive the same in return.
It’s tricky, too. You trust each other because everyone’s giving. You have to be willing to boot the takers. This only works if people are willing to give to get.
Start by looking for peers and mentors in different cities. Arrange a gathering of a small group of these brilliant, good-looking folks. It has to be in person.
Tell them if they don’t have an idea, they don’t come.
Tell them if they do come, it’ll be magic.
