What did you do this week?
Can you tell me?
With life moving so fast and so much news and data pelting us in the face, it’s getting harder and harder to remember what we did yesterday, much less Monday.
And if we can’t remember what we did, how can we know where we’re headed with any degree of certainty?
That’s why weekly reviews rock.
Take some time every Friday (or Sunday evening) – and look back on what you’ve done.
Review your sent items folder in your email.
Review your project management software (we’re using – and loving – Basecamp). Are there any malignant tasks infecting your to-do list? Do them, delegate them or delete them.
Review the meetings you held and the phone calls you took. Did you get down all the necessary next steps.
Review the notes you took and the stuff you highlighted in the books you’re reading.
Review your big picture goals. Did you make any small steps toward them this week?
There’s still time – today.
Reviewing this week helps give it closure and give you confidence that you’re pointed in the right direction Come Monday.
It’ll be alright … if you do a 30-60 minute review of the week behind you. Then you can put it behind you, enjoy your weekend, and move forward fiercely next week.
If you have a few minutes, here are three great weekly review references:
The Importance of the Weekly Review – Michael Hyatt
Weekly Review: Key to GTD and achieving goals – Leo Babauta
The Weekly Review: How One Hour Can Save You A Week’s Worth of Hassle and Headache – Lifehacker
Schedule your review for Friday or Sunday afternoon. Do it now. Then, get ready to have a great weekend!

We do monthly type reviews at work and I love seeing everything that my staff and I accomplished in writing.
