This weekend, many of our clients that run 52-week radio ad schedules (meaning they’re on the air every week of the year) will step away from their normal commercials to run special ads in honor of Memorial Day.
We do this from time to time as part of our ongoing branding campaigns. We run ads that accurately reflect the values of our clients.
Because we’re on the air all the time and our goal is to position our companies as the ones in their category in their market, we know one weekend of messaging – no matter how different from our usual advertising – isn’t going to make or break us. We are all in it for long haul with marketing plans as long as our business plans.
But, the thing is, when done well, these special ads aren’t that much different from our usual advertising. These ads also accurately reflect the values of each company and attempt to find common ground between the values of the company and the values of potential customers.
And because we create annual at-a-glance marketing plans for our clients, we know months in advance when these holidays we choose to publicly celebrate are coming up.
Selfishly, for Ryan and me, these are typically our most favorite ads to help our clients create because they not only help us reflect the values of our clients, but they carry a greater message.
In this case, that message is to never forget what so many gave up so that you and me could be free.
