Speaking of people who ruin everything…
“But … but … how come they get one? Why can’t we have one, too?”
Whiners drive me crazy.
No, this was not one of my young children.
This was, instead, a couple of competitors to one of our clients.
Our client was one of several contractors involved in a partnership with their city’s municipal utility program.
About a month into the program a DVD and online video emerged promoting my client as one of the experts on this program. It featured testimonial quotes and also featured an interview with a city official.
Somebody cue the whining … “But … but … how come they get one?”
We wrote it, shot it and paid for the advertising to promote it.
How did we get the city official?
We asked him.
You see, the city made their own video, too, but we didn’t like it all that much, plus, it featured all the contractors.
So, we made our own. We did the work. They didn’t.
They ran crying to the city.
Whiners and lazy people drive me crazy.
One Valentine’s Day, I remember writing an ad for a jeweler that reminded them candy causes cavities, flowers die in a week and a nice dinner’s gone even faster, but our diamond necklace thingie would remind her of you day after day after day.
A couple florists called the radio station – outraged that someone had the gall to run advertising telling people flowers, you know, die.
Did they want to write and buy their own advertising, I was told they were asked. No, they said, they didn’t need to advertise at Valentine’s Day, but the radio station needed to stop running those other ads.
Whiners and lazy people and certain florists drive me crazy.
