Answer immediately and honestly, do your employees have your back? Do you have theirs? Does your boss? Do you have hers or his?
There’s no need to tell me what you think I want to here… I can’t hear you. This is one of those look deeeeeeep into the mirror and be truthful times.
Who’s got your bag back?
After winning the British Open Championship on Sunday, Phil Mickelson graciously shared credit with the guy who’s had his back and bag for 21 years.
His man, Bones.
I got choked up watching Bones, the nickname of Mickelson’s caddie Jim MacKay, tearfully hugging his player, friend, and partner of two decades after the victory.
"Listen, Bones is the only guy on the golf course that wants me to play well, so why am I going to sit there and berate him and treat him poorly? He’s the only guy trying to work his tail off for me."
And it got me to thinking… do I have someone in my life like that?
How about you?
I shared a New York Times article quoted above about the Mickelson/MacKay partnership on Facebook last night. So did my friend and business partner, Jane Fraser. Prefacing the link to the article, she wrote:
Who’s in your corner? Are they there with you… or because of you? Me? I want them there WITH ME.
Me too, Jane.
